Nashik: Alleging that there was irregularity on a large scale in water supply schemes, Zilla Parishad member Dr. Atmaram Kumbharde slammed executive engineer of rural water supply department Purushottam Thakur and demanded to probe him in a triennial general meeting of Zilla Parishad on Tuesday. He made a demand to form a third-party agency for probe into these schemes in a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and District Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan.
Zilla Parishad chairperson Shital Sangle presided over the meeting. Chairperson of finance and construction committee Manisha Pawar, chairperson of education committee Yatindra Pagar, chairperson of social welfare committee Sunita Charoskar, additional chief executive officer Anil Landge and other members were present.
The district is witnessing more severe drought this time than 1972 and members raised voice over the measures by the administration regarding water supply and other things. As proposals regarding temporary water supply schemes were not tabled in time, they did not receive approvals. In effect, Chandwad and Nandgaon tehsils are facing a severe drought condition. Officials, gramsevak and talathi are showing negligence in these works and these works are delayed due to this, accused Dr. Kumbharde. He also used strong words to slam executive engineer Thakur.
The members demanded to probe irregularity into the water supply schemes. The chairperson ordered to form a committee to probe irregularity in the schemes in the next general meeting.
Other members also raised the issues regarding the drought situation. Give responsibility of one tehsil to each department head and conduct a meeting of gramsevaks taluka wise, instructed Shital Sangle. Water is supplied to Vadalibhoi village in Chandwad tehsil every 10 days. If demand is made for water supply in the mid period, gram panchayat is charging Rs. 1000 for each tanker. Doctors in primary health centre asking pregnant women to go Chandwad for delivery due to shortage of water, made member Kavita Dhakrao house aware with this and demanded a probe over the subject.
Member Nutan Aher raised electricity connection repair issue at Vijaynagar in Deola. Following evading reply from MSEDCL officials, she got angry and rebuked them.
