Youth stabbed to death by relatives

Nashik: A 25-year-old youth was stabbed to death by his uncle on Wednesday morning.
The Panchavati police said the accused uncle and his cousin were facing conflicting issues for the last three years.

The incident took place in Fule Nagar area around 9 am. The victim Anil Sukhlal Gunjal, 25, was allegedly attacked by his uncle Jairam Gaikwad, 44 and other family members namely Suraj, 18, Shriram, 36, Dashrath, 34, Hritik, 20 and Ambika Pawar.

On Wednesday morning around 9 am, when Gunjal was leaving for labour work as his routine, Ambika Pawar allegedly threw chilli powder in his eyes. The other accused then reportedly attacked him with rods and other sharp objects like knives.

In the brutal attack Gunjal suffered life-threatening injuries and bled to death, the cops said.

“The issues were personal and started with one of the relatives having a relationship outside marriage. However, the issue was resolved later on, but other conflicts cropped up in the last couple of years,” said senior police inspector, Madhukar Kad.

Kad added the accused family and the victim another argument and fights on Tuesday night. “The issue escalated to the extent that the family decided to plot an attack on the victim. Hence, on Wednesday morning they planned to carry out the assault and executed it,” he said.

The officer said that teams were immediately rushed to the spot, and all the accused were arrested within an hour of the incident.

Kad also said that Gunjal was accompanied by his friend Sampat Mane when the incident took place. “Mane also suffered injuries and is under treatment in intensive care unit, but reported to be safe,” he added.
