Wadzire achieves development through unity
Nashik: Everyone wants a big budget wedding ceremony. Most of the people take a loan to make the wedding a grand affair. However, Wadzire village in Sinnar tehsil is an exception to this.
There is a ban on alcohol, DJ, axing of trees, bridegroom procession and animal grazing in the village for the last ten years. One cannot believe that villagers have developed the village through people’s participation.
Many good works took place last year the Satyamev Jayate water cup competition. The government announced a fund of Rs. 5 lakh the Chief Minister’s fund for this village. The village received the second prize in the taluka.
The Zilla Parishad’s school in the village is digitised. Students get RO water for drinking. A state-of-the-art library has been set up by the Gram Panchayat and many costly books are kept in it. Apart from this, the library has 7-8 newspapers.
As a result, children have an extra reading. Many youths became officials at Mantralaya after studying in the library. Many youths are working in the multinational companies, informed social worker Arjun Bodke while speaking to Deshdoot.
Last year, many works were done by Pani Foundation. People’s participation had increased. Social organizations came here and had contributed labour. The works have been started with more vigour this year. The area where the works had done last year is greener.
The works have been started in another area now, the village would get water for 24 hours in the next 4-5 years, informed the villagers. Many social organizations contributed to the works going on through people’s participation.
With a belief of overcoming the drought condition, many projects have been undertaken. A project to plant a single tree in the name of newly married was undertaken. With this, the village is looking greener, informed sarpanch Shobha Bodke and deputy sarpanch Chhaya Nagre.
A village meeting is organized on the day of a wedding in the village to give blessings to the bride and bridegroom. Villagers honour bridge, bridegroom and their parents for supporting the ban over DJ and procession. Many couples give a certain donation for the development of the village after avoidance of unnecessary expenditure.
The villagers come together for development o the village, keeping personal interest aside. So far, 1,000 cubic meters of CCT, 500 cubic meter Lbs, closing of 500-meter farm boundaries, deepening of 5,000 nullahs, 300 cubic metres of soak pits, plantation of 2000 trees, soil inspection of 875 land holders have been done. Works related to save water and matchbox free Shivar Yojana are being conducted.
Initiative by Deshdoot for work contribution
Deshdoot has organised a work contribution activity in April to provide a helping hand to the villagers of Wadzire. Villagers were gathered on the occasion of a wedding in the village. The representatives of Deshdoot honoured the newly wedded couple. “We have learnt from this village many things that we will carry back home”, said Mayuri Kulkarni.
