Satpur : Any mishap is painful. Considering importance of human life, everyone should insist on safety related measures, stated vice president of Mahindra and Mahindra Company Hiraman Aher. He was speaking during inauguration of the training camp on ‘precaution to be taken while working at height or on weak metal roof’ in Mahindra and Mahindra Company, jointly organised by the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH) of Nashik division, Mutual Aid Response Group (MARG) and Mahindra and Mahindra Company.
Joint director of DISH Madhukar Prabhavale, deputy director Ram Dahifale, Anjali Aade, Shirodkar, chief general manager of Mahindra and Mahindra Company Dhande, Kamatikar and president of MARG and chief deputy general manager of Mahindra and Mahindra Company Norbert D’souza were present.
Aher further stated, “Compared to attention being provided to human life at global level, much attention is not being given in our country. We should work on principle of ‘zero tolerance’. Work at insecure places should be stopped; then we will succeed in reducing number of accidents,” he added.
Prabhavale said that though number of accidents in Nashik has decreased, this percentage is around 40-50%. There is a need to provide more attention to this, he added.
“15 accidents took place in 2014. 7 accidents out of these happened due to fall from a height. 12 accidents took place in 2015 and 5 out of these due to fall from a height and out of 16 accidents in 2016, 4 took place due to fall from height, whereas 5 accidents took place so far in 2017, 2 happened due to fall from a height. It means that we are falling short in bringing percentage of accidents to zero despite awareness by MARG and DISH,” Prabhavale stated.
Two accidents took place in last month due to fall from height. Considering this, this training camp has been organised immediately before monsoon, he informed.
Ram Dahifale and Anjali Aade also expressed their views and provided their guidance over precautions to be taken while working at height.
In his introductory speech, Nobert D’souza took review of various projects done through MARG. Good services and facilities are created in Nashik, but there is a need to take efforts for bringing number of accidents and deaths with awareness among workers and management through these, he said. Hrishikesh Jadhav compered the programme. Around 200 representatives of various industries were present for the camp.
