Unseasonal rains : 940 hects affected


NASHIK: Unseasonal rain and hailstorm have severely affected over 940 hectares of farm field incurring financial losses to 1184 farmers in 54 affected villages of the district.

As per the report of the district administration sent to state government, a total of 940.59 hectares of farm land damaged severely affecting 382 hectares of major onion crop. Vegetables crop on 722 hectares and horticulture crop including pomegranate, grapes and lime on 218 hectares affected.

Talukas of Sinnar, Niphad, Dindori, Chandwad and Nashik witnessed witnessed unseasonal rain and hailstorm during the last week. Compensation to farmers likely to be announced in the next fifteen days.

The state goverment had ordered assessment of the losses sustained by the standing crop and produce with due referring to different guidelines while deciding compensation parameters.
