Unseasonal rain: Farmers await compensation


Nashik : Following unseasonal rain and hailstorm in various parts of the district in May, standing crops had been badly hit. The affected farmers have not received compensation yet due to delay by district administration. It demanded fund of Rs. 1.19 crore to provide aid for affected farmers. Such proposal has been sent to the Divisional Commissioner.

Malegaon, Satana, Kalvan, Deola, Nashik, Igatpuri and Niphad talukas in the district were hit by unseasonal rain. 680.87 hectares of farmland was affected by unseasonal rain and hailstorm on April 13. 826 farmers from 23 villages were affected.

64.01 hectares of farmland on irrigated land was affected, whereas 616.86 farmland under horticulture was affected, but crops on non-irrigated farmland was not affected, the report mentions.

Demand for fund of Rs. 1.19 crore has been made to compensate the affected farmers. District administration received final report about this.
