NASHIK: The death toll in gastro outbreak has gone up to three at Rahude village in Surgana taluka of the district on Wednesday, which saw an outbreak of gastroenteritis since Monday. The deaths of two local villagers, Yabshira Lilke and Sitaram Pithe, have taken the death toll to three on Wednesday. Both the victims were being treated at district civil hospital.
The district collector has issued notices to Zilla Parishad health officials and sought detail report on the deaths from them. On Monday, a villager from Rahude, Namdev Gangurde died of gastro following which over 150 villagers were admitted to different hospitals in the taluka and at civil hospital in Nashik.
Meanwhile, a woman from Kalwan taluka, Mangala Jadhav was reportedly suspected of gastro infection and was under treatment. Following the outbreak of gastro at Rahude village in Surgana taluka of the district on Monday, a team of health officials, 25 doctors and nurses had camped at the village to combat the epidemic.
The administration as an immediate preventive measure, had undertaken work of digging borewell in the village. Village police patil Martandnath Ahire is keeping a close eye on the prevailing situation and is in constant touch with primary health centres (PHCs) and the team of doctors deployed in the village.
Meanwhile, with a view to avoid repetition of Rahude-like situation, extensive public awareness drive on the proper use of water sources has been undertaken on village level under the aegis of chief executive officer.
