The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Tuesday recovered by 134 points to open at 40,497.72 on fresh buying in materials, FMCG, Finance and Bankex stocks. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose by 48 points at 11,877.50. The Sensex registered intra-day high and low at 40,536 and 40,315.08 points, respectively.
The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 11,883.05 and 11,810.15 points, respectively. The sectoral indices like Materials, FMCG, Finance and Bankex stocks pushed the market up in early trade. The gainers were Hind Unilever by 1.59 pc to Rs 2251.15, Tata Steel by 1.31 pc to Rs 420.80, HDFC by 1.15 pc to Rs 2,319.15 and SBI by 1.05 pc to Rs 326.30. The losers were HCL Tech by 3.23 pc to Rs 575.90, Sun Pharma by 1.95 pc to Rs 390.30, Ultracemco by 1.41 pc to Rs 4335.10 and L&T by 0.99 pc to Rs 1,247.10.
