Nitin Maind, controller, Nashik division, MSRTC informed that freight service by MSRTC is getting a positive response. MSRTC has successfully completed 200 trips of transporting 10 tonnes of goods each making it a total of 2,000 tonnes of goods which have been transported till now.

On a daily basis, a lot of firms are contacting the Corporation since they have diversified their business. The Corporation is charging a consolidated price to the firms depending on the distance of transport. They’re also charging 125% surcharge on uninsured goods, he added.

Twenty buses have already been converted into a truck and the rest ten are under progress, Maind also informed.

This has come as silver lining for the division as the Corporation has suffered a revenue loss of almost 100 crores in the last four months due to lockdown. MSRTC official Kailas Patil informed that the division has 850 buses in total, and they used to generate income of around Rs one crore per day. Their average monthly income was around 31-32 crores.

However, the Nashik division has started earning well again, and is gaining positive response from the firms for its freight service.
