Money into farmers’ accounts may be credited in March

NASHIK :

It has come to light that nationalised banks are still falling short in uploading list of account holders on the portal who are eligible for Mahatma Jyotirao Phule farmer loan waiver scheme. Deadline of February 21st regarding specimen list out of those lists which are uploaded has been missed and these lists will now be published on February 28. Government has issued an order regarding this. After the publication of these lists, money is likely to be credited into bank accounts of farmers in the first week of March.

After Maha Vikas Aghadi government has come to power in the state, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray decided to waive off crop loan up to Rs 2 lakh. The number of those account holders of Nashik District Central Cooperative (NDCC) Bank whose crop loan is pending up to Rs 2 lakh is 1.08 lakh, while the number of nationalised bank account holders is around 36 lakh.

After the announcement of the scheme, auditors visited Vividh Karyakari Societies and verified the information about whether the loan of a loanee and charged interest is correct or not. Thereafter, bank accounts of all these account holders were linked to the aadhaar card number. Work has now been undertaken since February 1 to upload lists of such account holders on the portal.

NDCC uploaded lists of all account holders during initial days of the scheme. On the other hand, it was found that nationalised banks, however, are falling short. Due to slow pace of work, lists of many account holders have still not been uploaded. In the next phase of the process, uploaded lists will be published in Gram Panchayat offices, Vividh Karyakari Societies and public places in the villages.

Thereafter, the information will be taken whether concerned account holders agree with loan waiver or not. If they agree, they have to give a thumb mark. In case of objection, it can also be registered. The loan waiver amount will then be credited into bank accounts at the government level.
