NASHIK :

In order to identify exact number of migrant labourers in the district and to ensure their safe and confirm journey to their native places during this lockdown, the district administration has decided to make online enrollment of the migrant workers in the district.

The migrant labourers who want to go to their native places need to make mandatory registration of themselves through online process at their respective tahsildar offices, appealed deputy collector Nitinkumar Mundavare.

However stranded labourers under the municipal corporations of Nashik and Malegaon have not been authorised to make their own online registration. They will have to stay where they are currently till further notice.

The central government has brought on track Shramik Special trains to transport migrant labourers to their native villages.

So far, four Shramik Special trains and several buses have been released by the government to ferry the migrant labourers to their native places. But still a large number of migrants especially from north and eastern states are stuck in various talukas of Nashik district.

The state government has thus undertaken the task of transporting these stranded citizens to their home with the permission of the central government which is releasing special trains for these stranded labour force.

On a humanitarian ground, the state government is issuing train tickets freely on labourer’s behalf. Also food packets and water bottles are being provided by the district administration with the help of various social organisations. Besides, free bus service is also being provided by MSRTC to ferry these stranded labourers from different parts of the district to Nashik Road railway station.

Even today, a large number of labourers are stuck in different talukas of the district. But since they have not made their online registration with their respective tehsildar, the administration cannot send them back home by special train.

“Therefore, all these citizens should first register their name online with the tehsildar of the taluka in which they are currently stranded. Tehsildar will include names of those who have enrolled themselves, in the list. The labourers will be informed on the day the train becomes available.

Accordingly, if these citizens are present at their respective places, they will be eligible to travel to the railway station by bus and from there to their native places in other states by a special train,” stated district administration authorities.

But this includes rest of the rural areas in the district excluding areas under the Nashik municipal corporations of Nashik and Malegaon.

The administration has clarified that since both the municipal corporations are in the red zones, the citizens stranded there will not be able to return to their native places till further notice.
