Nashik : After decrease in Covid-19 cases of second wave of pandemic Forest Department has decided to conduct Fireflies Festival. The well known Bhandardara Kasubai Sanctuary Fireflies Festival will be held following the Corona rules. Tourist can visit this festival till July 25.
From last two season the Fireflies Festival was cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. After two year tourists will get an opportunity to see the fireflies and enjoy there biodiversity. This decision has created an atmosphere of excitement among nature lovers, tourists and locals.
Every year in the last month of May and in the first and second week of June, Kajwa Mahotsav or Fireflies Festival is organized in the Bhandardara-Kalsubai Sanctuary. As soon as it started raining, the world of fireflies appears here in the darkness.
Entry only after thermal screening
Tourists will be allowed to enter Kalsubai-Bhandardara sanctuary as the corona wave has become mild. However, thermal screening of each tourist will be done before that. Only 25 persons will be allowed to stay at one spot. Ganesh Ranadive, Assistant Conservator of Forests, has warned that action will be taken if the rules are violated.
