The growing number of corona patients, on one hand, and insufficient number of hospitals on the other, have led to the acquisition of schools, colleges and marriage halls by the government. If the situation worsens in the future, the government authorities are looking for alternatives. As a part of this, the central and the state governments have given special permission to the plant of a Everest Group of companies, based at Lakhmapur industrial estate in Dindori tehsil to manufacture equipment to set-up Covid-19 hospitals on ad-hoc basis.
A number of schools and colleges have been acquired to fight coronavirus pandemic. However, these Covid centers will have to be shifted elsewhere after the beginning of an academic year. Therefore, considering the future requirement, the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has given special nod to this company on behalf of the government. Temporary Covid hospitals are being set up across the country, including the state, using non-asbestos roofing sheets and fiber cement.
Production of non-asbestos roofing sheets and fiber cement required to set up Covid hospitals has started in Nashik. The equipments are being manufactured at Everest Group’s plant at Lakhmapur and is being supplied to various states across the country. The equipments will be used to set up special cells for Covid patients and their fast isolation process.
The construction materiel being produced by the plant ‘Everest Industries Fibre Cement Board and Rapicon Panels’ is environment friendly and protective from Covid-19. Adhering to social distancing norms, the company has employed a strength of 50 per cent workers of its total manpower. Hand sanitizer at the entrance gate and rules of social distancing are being strictly followed.
With the start of the manufacturing process, the company has succeeded in providing employment to 460 tribal men and women which are from belt of Peth, Surgana, Dindori and Trimbakeshwar. It’s big relief for these tribal people who were in search of employment for their livelihood since the lockdown.
Nod as per government directives
As the work of the Everest company is dealing with essential services, the company has therefore given special permission to start production process immediately as per the directive principles of the government even during the lockdown. On one hand the company has generated employment, while on the other hand the country will also benefit from the company’s products in the wake of the corona crisis.
