NASHIK: In the revised guidelines, the state government has issued the closure of coaching classes due to the rising Covid-19. However, for the past two years, teachers are suffering immensely due to the lockdown and have been hit financially. Therefore, Nashik District Private Coaching Class Directors Association has demanded the state government to keep coaching classes open with strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines.

Education sector employees received a big financial blow during the pandemic. Now, with the third wave, they might face financial instability once again. Along with schools and colleges, the state is unnecessarily closing the coaching classes. If the teenagers above 18 years of age have been vaccinated and the ones between 15 to 18 years of age are getting vaccinated, shutting down coaching classes is unrequired.

The government is suggesting online classes once again. However, parents are ready to send their children to coaching classes. While addressing a press conference, President Jayant Mule stated that the government allowed beauty salons, gyms, and other places to function with 50% capacity but closed the coaching classes.

The Central Government has recognised coaching classes under ‘small-scall industries, which simply means that the directors need to pay income tax, business tax, and other taxes. Schools and colleges are paying their teachers and professors regularly. However, it is the coaching classes teachers and directors that suffer as they have no alternate source of income. Either the state government should announce a special package for coaching classes directors (like the one it announced for farmers), or the association will start a non–cooperation movement against the government.
