Three slapped with 20 years imprisonment in a gangrape case


Nashik: Three persons have been slapped 20 years life imprisonment while another four have been ordered imprisonment for six months after being convicted in a gang rape case on Thursday.
The Nashik district and sessions court after hearing the statements from witnesses issued the judgement for the incident that took place in the year 2014.
According to the police case, on February 26, 2014, a 24-year-old woman had allegedly gone on the outskirts of the city near Upnagar area with her boyfriend.
The duo visited Rokdoba temple in Upanagar area and was strolling around 6 pm when three persons (now convict) Pramod Sitaram Garud, Tushar a.ka. Khusha Bhagwan Bhadrange and Jaggu Pradeep Wankhede approached them. The trio thrashed him and then sexually assaulted the victim.
The other four convicted, Vijay Sahebrao Ugale, Kailas Ganesh Barahate, Anil Dilip Sandhanshiv and Deepak Machindra Dokhe were accompanied by the three and supported the crime. The accused after attacking the victim also stole her mobile phone and asked them to leave the premises immediately. The incident took place between 6 pm until 10 pm.
The victim and her injured boyfriend left the spot and visited a private hospital to treat his head injury. The victim then narrated the incident to her younger sister on the phone who lived outside the city. The duo then spent the night at the boyfriend’s house and later decided to lodge a formal complaint with the police.
The judge, M H More, slapped six months of rigorous imprisonment to other accused while the main accused were issued with 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.
In all statements of 14 witnesses were recorded and after confirming the facts and evidence, the punishment was ordered.
