Thakre elected chairman of Bar Council again


Nashik: Adv. Nitin Thakre has been elected as chairman of Nashik Bar Council after a tough contest. Adv. Prakash Ahuja has been elected as vice chairman, whereas Adv. Jalinder Tadge has been elected as secretary. Adv. Sharad Gaidhani has been elected as joint secretary, while Adv. Shyamla Dixit has been elected as woman joint secretary.
The counting of votes for remaining posts is taking place today (July 13). Victorious candidates and their supporters burst crackers and threw gulal in the air to celebrate their victories.

83.56% voting was registered for election of executive body of Nashik Bar Council on Tuesday. Out of 3,043 lawyers, 2,543 lawyers voters exercised their franchise. The counting of votes for the posts of chairman, vice chairman, secretary, joint secretary and joint secretary (woman) was held yesterday. The counting of votes which began in the morning was on till late in the evening.

Result for the post of chairman was announced first. Current chairman Adv. Nitin Thakre received the highest 1,037 votes and retained the post for another term. Adv. Mahesh Aher who gave a good fight, got 819 votes. Adv. Shridhar Mane remained in third position, garnering 510 votes. Adv. Prakash Ahuja has been elected as vice chairman after getting 1,145 votes, whereas Adv. Sudam Pingale received 689 votes.

Chairman Adv. Thakre won by 224 votes, whereas joint secretary Adv. Tadge won by 80 votes and joint secretary Adv. Gaidhani won by 137 votes.

Lawyers in large numbers were present in the district court.  Meanwhile, counting of votes for the posts of treasurer, three members, woman member and members (practice below 7 yrs) will be held today.
