Cops in Malegaon city which has become a corona hotspot remain vulnerably exposed to rising Covid-19 infections. As they hold up a critical piece in battle against coronavirus, it’s taking a toll on their health. Many cops who were deployed in Malegaon city were infected. However, with determination, support from all and positive attitude, they won their battle against Covid-19. Deshdoot Times has brought success stories of some such corona warriors in a series beginning today.

“We had been deployed in Pawarwadi areas where first positive in Malegaon city had died. There was a fear in the minds of everyone. Covid-19 tests of me and my colleague had turned positive  as we had come in contact with a positive patient. We had then feared a lot. However, with firm support from seniors, I overcame corona and had joined duties again after completion of home quarantine period,” said corona warrior Shantaram Pandharinath Ghgue who had fought the battle successfully against corona.

“Considering shortage of police personnel at Malegaon, a team of 50 police personnel including me had been ordered to go to Malegaon. We had then reached Malegaon on April 11 and I had been deployed in Pawarwadi area. Family members had worried over this. District superintendent of police Dr Arti Singh and additional superintendent of police Sharmistha Walavalkar had provided their guidance about the care to be taken about corona and usage of sanitizer and other safety means. We had given masks, sanitizers and Vitamin C tablets,” he informed.

“Me and my other three colleagues had duties at check point in Pawarwadi. Though positive patient had been found there, residents there were not in a position to listen. They were stepping out of their homes citing various reasons. After a period of 15 days, I had soaring throat. After I informed seniors about this, our swab samples had collected on April 27,” Ghuge informed further.

“Me and my colleague had turned positive. I had got feared much with a feeling that I had infected. Senior officials had assured us that every care will be taken and do not fear. We were shifted to district civil hospital in Nashik on April 30. Doctors and nurses in the hospital had enhanced our self-confidence with their positive talks. Special inspector general of police Chhering Dorje and district superintendent Dr Arti Singh had called on mobile and gave their support and instructed to think positive.

“In this period I had kept myself away from news. I had got cured of Covid-19 on May 14 and discharged from the hospital. I had then spent a day in quarantine in a hostel of MET and seven days in quarantine at home. After completion of seven days I had joined the duty,”Ghuge stated with a feeling of proud.
