Nashik: The election department of district administration has sought list of divyangs from Nashik Municipal Corporation and Zilla Parishad to register all divyang voters in the district separately.
Besides this, a contact is being made with the organisations working for divyangs and they have been urging to give information. A special voter registration drive for divyangs has been organised at Dadasaheb Gaikwad hall on September 6.
The State Election Commissioner has instructed to register divyang voters separately. As many as 2200 divyang voters were registered in a voter revalidation programme conducted by the district administration recently., but number of divyangs in the district may be higher.
Considering this. The Election Commission has decided to conduct a separate voter registration drive for divyangs. Benefit of various schemes by government is given to divyangs through local bodies like Municipal Corporation and Zilla Parishad.
The district administration has sought the list of divyangs from them. Government is running various welfare schemes for them and a fixed plan is required for this. This voter registration drive will be useful for this.
In a recently conducted voter revalidation programme in the district, booth level officials visited 11.28 lakh residences. Some divyangs who have not registered their names in voter list were found during this.
If district administration receives list from local bodies and the organisations working for divyangs, it is possible for it to reach more and more divyangs. A special camp will be conducted for this and registration of divyangs will be made.
District Collector Radhakrishnan B and Nashik sub-divisional officer Vikas Gujar will be present. This special drive will be conducted in cooperation with Prahar Apang Kranti Andolan, informed president of Divyang Kalyankari Sanghatana Babloo Mirza and president of Shiv Sahyadri social organisation Satish Gunjal.
After registration of divyang voter, PWD will be mentioned before his name. With this it will be understood that the concerned person is divyang. In addition, after collecting this information, information about number of divyangs in each constituency will be known and it will be easier to provide necessary facilities to divyangs at respective voting centre.
It is also possible to provide benefit of various schemes run by central and state governments for divyangs. Meanwhile, divyangs should bring disability certificate, school leaving certificate and two passport size photographs.
