Special tiles placed to guide them

Nashik: The Smart Road developing under the Nashik Smart City project will be soon inaugurated. The work of the Smart Road is still ongoing as the junction of Ashok Stambh has not been completed yet. The Smart Road is revealing its new features every day.
While walking on the Smart Road one may get amazed about the yellow tiles on that road. The people are curious about it and are jumping to their own conclusions. The yellow line is another feature of the Smart Road.
The yellow tiles are not for the common people and they will not even understand or feel its need. The yellow tiles line on Smart Road is for the visually challenged. The yellow tiles on the Smart Road are slightly elevated by about 1cm. The elevated sections guide such people to navigate on the road.
The white cane used by the visually challenged gives them a sense of elevated tiles sections. The design of the tiles with straight connecting bars on it guides them to find their way. The tiles are as per the international norms.
“The feature is very nice. We get the sense of elevated section immediately. The visually challenged people can easily get through the Smart Road. I feel that it should have been in a particular side so that we could have easily walked on the road. The section of the tiles is in middle of the road, so its bit difficult. The authorities should spread awareness about it and the feature with little change should be implemented all over city.”

“The Smart Road feature of Yellow Line of tiles will be very helpful for the blinds. It will help them to walk freely on the road. The tiles have been placed there as per international norms. The actual use of it will be seen when the road will come in enforcement.”
Tactile Paving
The bar and circle feature of the yellow tiles on the Smart Road is very fine for the blinds. It is called as Tactile Paving. The feature has been added with international norms. These are ground surface indicators, easily recognized by the blinds. The tiles with elevated circles symbolizes to stop for blind and the elevated bar tiles denotes to walk straight.
