The Police on Sunday arrested a 26-year-old man and his friend for allegedly murdering the former’s elder brother over his drinking habit at Kasarvasti near Vavi village in Sinnar taluka of the district.
Ravindra Bhaskar Kasar (28) was a drunkard and despite persuasion by his family members to quit the habit, there was no change in his behaviour, leading to frequent quarrels.
Upset over this, Jalinder (26) along with his friend Kaleem Azam Qadri late on Saturday night hit on Ravindra’s head with a hoe and killed him, police said. The incident came to light this morning when Ravindra’s father Bhaskar Kasar went to the cowshed to fetch the milk and found his elder son lying in the pool of blood.
Then, gram panchayat member Balasaheb Kandalkar reported the matter to the Vavi police station. Following this, the Vavi police rushed to the spot and took Jalinder into custody for questioning. After Jalinder confessed to the crime, police arrested him and his friend Qadri for the murder and registered a murder case against them, sources added.
