Shops to open in city on the odd-even basis

According to the guideline of the state government, on one day, all shops on one side of the road will stay open, while all shops on the other side of the road will remain open the next day in Nashik city on the odd-even basis. This decision has been taken to curb coronavirus spread.

Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishna Game on Friday held a meeting with trader associations in th city and urged them to cooperate in containing the corona spread. Shops, vegetable and medical shops can now be opened as per government guidelines, he made it clear.

The meeting of trader associations’ representatives was held at the Municipal Commissioner’s hall. According to a notification issued by city traffic branch regarding P-1 and P-2, shops along roads and lanes can be opened on even dates (like 2,4,6,8,10…) and shops on another side can be opened on odd dates (like 1,3,5,7,9..) between 9 am to 5 pm.

This notification will also be applicable for vegetables/fruits shops, floor mil, milk dairy, ration shops, seeds selling shops and other shops selling essential commodities. Divisional officials should decide about those places which are not included in the notification considering local situation there. This orders had caused disappointment among the traders. The purpose of the meeting was to address this disappointment.

The Municipal Commissioner has urged traders to follow all instructions in the order. There will be no permission for exchange and return policy. It will be the responsibility of shopkeepers to maintain social distancing norm. They should encourage consumers to use foot mark, token, system and home delivery. Those shops and market areas which found flouting these, they will be shut, clarified the administration.

Deputy municipal commissioner Pradip Choudhari, MACCIA’s Santosh Mandlecha and representatives of grocery traders association, readymade cloth saree association, jewellery association, stationery trader association, flour mil association, district grocery trader association, plywood merchants welfare and milk sweets trader association were present.
