Set on fire by stalker, Wardha woman succumbs to injuries after 8 days

NAGPUR :

Wardha woman, who was burnt alive by a stalker on February 3, succumbed to her injuries on Monday while undergoing treatment at the Orange City Hospital and Research Institute(OCHRI) here. The accused Vikesh alias and Vicky Nagrale (27) set the 24-year-old women on fire in Hinganghat town of the Wardha district.

Previously, the doctors cautioned that the initial seven days are very critical for her as she sustained 40 per cent grade III burns. Following the public outrage over the incident, the State government assured of bearing all the medical expenses to be incurred on her treatment.

The OCHRI stated that at around 0400 hours today, victim’s oxygen levels deteriorated despite ventilator support.
It further said that as part of immediate resuscitation measures, medicines were given to maintain the blood pressure and all possible steps were taken to improve the oxygen levels in the blood but the patient remained extremely critical.

“Around 0630 hours, she had bradycardia and despite prolonged cardiopulmonary resuscitation the patient could not be revived and was declared dead at 0655 hours,” it mentioned. The OCHRI has kept the relatives of the victim and administration informed about the victim’s deteriorating health condition. The body has been handed over to the police for completion of formalities.
