NASHIK:

The Forest Department personnel and Nana Saheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan an NGO, volunteers saved around 7,000 samplings from the forest fire. The samplings planted by the forest department near Garware point, opposite to the botanical garden, on a hill, were saved from a fire created by unidentified sources.

Around 1.5 hectares of the region got burnt in the fire, however, no major loss has been reported. The fire broke out at around 3:30 in the afternoon on Sunday.  The forest officials got the call from a stranger who reported the fire.

The officials with the volunteers of the Nana Saheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan reached the spot around 4 pm and started extinguishing the fire. The forest department and the NGO had already dug the trenches to prevent such forest fires.

Around 5:30 the team successfully controlled the fire. The forest officials suspect that miscreants must have created the fire. The department is inquiring about the incidents. The saplings were planted about 4 years ago and are being taken care of by the NGO. The saplings have now grown to about 10 to 15 feet in height.
