Return Monsoon lash Maharashtra’s Marathwada region

Maharashtra’s Marathwada recorded 14.08 mm rainfall in past 24 hrs after return monsoon lashed the region.
Heavy showers have been lashing Osmanabad, Latur and Beed districts since Friday evening. The highest rainfall of 36.22 mm was recorded in Osmanabad district while the lowest rainfall 0.40 mm recorded in Hingoli district.

Latur recorded 26.47 mm rainfall, Beed 22.14 mm, Nanded 11.35 mm, Aurangabad 6.73 mm, Jalna 5.74 mm and Parbhani 3.67 mm, said official sources from Divisional Commissioner here this morning.

With this, the region has received total 602 mm average rainfall which is the 80 per cent of expected rainfall and 77 per cent of annual rainfall, still indicating a deficit of 23 per cent, India Meteorological Department said. Following return monsoon, the water level of rivers, nullahs, ponds and other irrigation projects is likely to increase.
