Nashik: Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has made it clear that policy by government regarding Ganeshotsav and orders by High Court will be implemented strictly this time and there would be no compromise over this.
As a result, office bearers of public Ganesh Mandals have warned to celebrate this year’s Ganeshotsav to condemn the civic body administration and government. On the backdrop of this, All Public Ganeshotsav Mahamandal will organise a march in next four days to condemn the administration of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC).
Some days ago Municipal Commissioner Mundhe issued a circular regarding Ganeshotsav. Due to some stringent rules and conditions in it, there may be conflict between Ganesh Mandals and the administration.
Ganesh Mandal office bearers were strongly disappointed after the civic body chief denied permission to celebrate Ganeshotsav at B D Bhalekar ground. Following this, office bearers of Nashik Mahanagar Ganeshotsav Mahamandal led by MLA Devyani Pharande met District Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan and demanded to relax the stringent rules and to permit Ganeshotsav at Bhalekar ground. Mahajan recently ordered Mundhe to give permission for Ganeshotsav at Bhalekar ground.
On the backdrop of this, the delegation led by group leader of Nationalist Congress Party Gajanan Shelar, president of the Mahamandal Sameer Shete, vice president Ramsingh Bavri and working president Padmakar Patil met Mundhe on Monday (Sept. 3) and demanded to relax stringent rules for Ganeshotsav and to scrap condition of getting permission from Public Works Department for setting up of pandal, but the civic body chief rejected this demand and informed that not a single additional land will be made available to Mandals than instructions by the government and High Court.
In addition, NMC will not give permission if there is no no objection certificate for map of pandal by Public Works Department, Mundhe informed. He also rejected the demand to set up the pandal at location of alternate routes in Gaothan. If Mandals submit application again about Ganeshotsav at Bhalekar ground, it would be considered, he informed further.
Enraged over the reply by the Municipal Commissioner, office bearers of Ganeshotsav Mahamandal conducted a meeting and declared stand by the Mahamandal in a media briefing. If administration remain firm on its stringent rules and conditions, Ganesh Mandals will not get permission.
Ganeshotsav will be celebrated this to condemn the government and administration. Banners condemning them will be set up without any decoration. A march will be taken out at NMC headquarter Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan after discussions with Mandals, warned president Shete and group leader Gajanan Shelar.
