Protest rally organised to condemn attack on athletics coach


Nashik : Athletes Kavita Raut, Monika Athre and other athletes organised a protest march to condemn attack on athletics coach Vaijnath Kale in Suyojit garden area in Asaram Bapu bridge. A direct action is being taken against eve teasers, informed DCP Laxmikant Patil.
A 35-year-old athletics coach Kale was assaulted with a chopper by eve teasers on Friday morning. This incident took place in Suyojit Viridian Garden near Asaram Bapu bridge and Kale was seriously injured in the assault.
District Collector Radhakrishnan B, who was present there for his morning walk and other players had rushed to help. Police had reached the spot after they informed and had nabbed the accused.
On the backdrop of this, Nashik district athletic association organised a meeting to protest this. Nashik Cyclist Group and sports lovers were present for the meeting and strongly condemned the attack. Agitators wore black clothes.
MLA Seema Hiray, president of the association Rajiv Joshi, vice president Hemant Pande, Rajiv Joshi, Dutta Jadhav, athlete Kavita Raut, Vijendra Singh and parents in large numbers were present.
Taking serious note of this, police has undertaken a direct drive to curb eve teasing. Police have decided to increase patrolling in Goda Park area in Gangapur Road. They will try to curb eve teasing through constant patrolling, check point and barricading. The implementation of the decision has been started immediately and number of patrolling squads has been increased, informed DCP Laxmikant Patil.
Meanwhile, police arrested suspects Sameer Vishwanath Kamble (21, resident of Pokar Colony, Panchavati) and Mayush Kailas Kadlag (20, resident of Kadlag farm, Anandvalli) in connection with this. When they were produced in the court, they were remanded to police custody for two days. They both are hardened criminals and have police cases against them in Gangapur and other police stations in the city.
