Probe ordered into Shivajiwadi housing scheme scam


Nashik: Taking note of the allegations about names of local corporators, their relatives and activists of MLAs are included in the list of beneficiaries of housing scheme, the Municipal Commissioner ordered a probe into this matter and asked to table the report. Orders have been issued to Deputy Municipal Commissioner Rohidas Bahiram to make inquiry into this. NMC officials went to slum area on Wednesday and inquired the beneficiaries.

Regional spokesperson of Congress and Nashik west divisional prabhag committee chairperson Dr. Hemalat Patil alleged that there is a scam on large scale in fixing names of beneficiaries for housing scheme implemented at Shivajiwadi under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. Houses were given to relatives of local corporators, she mentioned in her complaint. List of beneficiaries was prepared at the residence of BJP MLA Devyani Pharande, Dr. Patil alleged further.

Nashik Municipal Corporation constructed 100-feet road from Bharatnagar and Shivajiwadi. It demolished 30 shanties during construction of this road. NMC had to include these 20 families in the housing scheme, but the then corporator had shifted these people to Urdu and Marathi school area.

Local corporator and officials in slum department joined hands and had showed that overall 180 families were affected and added 150 false beneficiaries to the list. Considering this, Dr. Patil demanded to probe irregularity in distribution of houses. Orders have been issued to Deputy Municipal Commissioner Bahiram to probe the entire matter and table the report, informed Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Krishna.
