Police seize five vehicles
The squad of crime branch unit I had busted a gang three years ago which was mortgaging vehicles after taking them on a rental basis. Two sub-agents who were absconding were arrested and five vehicles have been seized from them.
The suspects have been identified as Avesh Jilani Kokani and Farhan Jilani Kokani (both residents of Pakhal Road).
Both of them had taken vehicles from people on a rental basis by stating that they had a tours-travels office. After agreements had mortgaged vehicles through sub-agents after taking a large amount. They had not given money to vehicle owners as per agreement and had not returned their vehicles to them.
Police have already arrested them. It came to light that after fixing of monthly rental with the original owner, the suspects had mortgaged the vehicles after taking a large amount from sub-agent Samson Pravin Parkhe. During the investigation, it had also come to light that Parkhe had given mortgaged vehicles to the people known by suspect Bhushan Surve from Dhule and had taken a huge amount from them.
The squad had arrested suspect Bhurya alias Bhushan Rajendra Surve (resident of old Dhule and his accomplice Parkhe (resident of Jail Road) and during their interrogation they had admitted that they had hidden four-wheelers of various companies worth Rs 28.90 lakh. Police have so far recovered around 12 vehicles from Kokani duo and returned to their original owners.
