Nashik: Fearing over agitation by Kisan Sabha and office bearers of Pensioners Association during the public meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the district police administration put 40 office bearers in the district under house arrest, it came to light. This is an attempt by the government to suppress the voice, alleged the office bearers and condemned the government.
The office bearers of Kisan Sabha and Pensioners Association had made preparations to show black flags or demonstration to draw the attention of the Prime Minister to the issues of pensioners and farmers. However, police over security reason put office bearers of these organisations under house arrest from 11 am on Sunday.
Raju Desale, Sudhakar Gujarathi, P V Joshi, Sunil Malusare (Kisan Sabha) and Bhausaheb Shinde were among those office bearers who were put under the house arrest. Despite this, around 400 activists of both organisations came at the public meeting site from Nashik and Ahmednagar.
Police requested all leaders not to agitate on the backdrop of multiple bombings at Sri Lanka. As a result, office bearers did not agitate, office bearers of both organisations informed. Though office bearers agreed over the request, government with help of police suppressed their voice, alleged the organisations.
