Police foil ATM robbery attempt
Nashik: City police have foiled an attempt to break open bank ATM on Monday midnight in Ravivar Karanja area. A migrant thief residing in the Godaghat area was arrested in connection with this. The suspect has been identified as Sunny Rawat (19, resident of Uttar Pradesh). He tried to break open ATM of Punjab National Bank, however, after noting this beat marshal arrested him immediately.
According to police, Sunny entered bank ATM centre around 2.30 am. He tried to break open the ATM with the help of an iron instrument. However, he failed to reach the tray of cash. In the meantime beat marshal of Sarkarwada police station, Bhagwan Gavali and home guard jawan who was with him on night patrolling duty noted suspicious movements of youth in ATM centre.
They immediately stopped their two-wheeler and reached the centre. They pulled down the shutter of the centre. As a result, the suspect got trapped in the centre. Beat marshal Gavali thereafter informed police station about this over wireless and sought the help of additional police.
After additional police personnel reached there, they upped the shutter and arrested Gavali. A case in connection with this has been registered at Sarkarwada police station. Police sub-inspector Dharmesh Pawar is investigating further.
