Police all set for Assembly elections
Nashik: The city and rural police have all set up for the voting day today (Oct 21). More than 10,500 police personnel including the city police force, district police force, home guard, police personnel from outside, SRPF and CRPF will be in place.
The voting for the state assembly elections in the district as well as in the state is taking place today. Police have maintained tight security at all booths in the city and all concerned voting centres. The city has a total 1,154 booths for which a total of 254 buildings have been used.
A total of 735 police personnel and 577 home guards have been deployed at all these places. The city has a total of 33 sensitive voting centres. Special security will be maintained for these centres. Commissioner of Police, deputy commissioners of police, assistant commissioners of police, senior police inspectors, assistant police inspectors, reserve police force, central reserved police force and home guard, amounting to a total of 4500 police personnel will maintain tight security in the city to prevent any untoward incident.
The district has a total of 3,423 voting centres. Of the, 32 centres are sensitive. Gun totting police personnel will be deployed at these centres. Considering the number of voting centres in the district, it will be a test for rural police for smooth conduct of the voting process at each taluka level.
Accordingly, an action plan of police security has been prepared under the district superintendent of police Dr Arti Singh. Police administration striving hard to maintain security at the taluka level in the district. A force of more than 6,500 police personnel including 1 superintendent of police, 2 additional superintendents of police, 12 deputy superintendents of police, 43 police inspectors, 118 assistant police inspectors and police sub-inspectors, 2,847 police personnel, 2,526 home guard jawans, 800 home guard jawans from Gujarat, 5 CRPF companies, 3 GSRPF companies and 3 companies of railway police will be deployed in the district.
Police will monitor the situation in voting centres in sensitive tehsils like Malegaon and Nipad through five drones. Two drone will be deployed in Niphad tehsil, while three drones will be deployed in Malegaon tehsil. The rural police administration conducted route march with jawans of various companies at 32 sensitive voting centres.
