Plan to crush farmers’ strike?


Nashik: Blaming that some miscreants are trying to give violent turn to farmers’ strike in the name of farmers, police administration received orders to take strict action against them. Police personnel on large scale have been deployed in the district for this. It is a plan by government to crush farmers’ strike, alleged farmers.

The farmers in state are on strike since Thursday to press for loan waiver, minimum support price, implementation of recommendations by Swaminathan Commission etc. The Chief Minister had held discussions with organisations of the farmers and requested them to withdraw their strike. However it was decided in a meeting held yesterday that farmers are firm on their strike in Nashik. With this it is clear that this strike will be intensified. Police administration is ready to tackle the strike and police personnel have been deployed. Additional police force has been sought from outside.

As per orders received from higher level, district administration is ready to crush the strike and police force will be used for this.

Meanwhile, four police personnel were suspended for negligence in duty and inquiry of five is going on, sources informed.
The city and rural police force is ready and additional force has been sought from outside. Police officials, personnel of police stations under city police commissionerate and reserve police force amounting to total 3,000 police personnel are ready. A platoon of SRP arrived in the city yesterday. Rapid action force and riot control squad have been deployed. Around 2,000 police personnel have been deployed since last three days under SP of rural police Ankush Shinde.
