Number of tankers in division increases
Nashik Road: The Maharashtra state is witnessing a severe drought condition. In addition, there is an incresed demand for water tankers. The water condition in Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule and Ahmednagar districts in Nashik division has become severe.
The water is being supplied to 729 villages and 2,988 hamlets through 960 government and private water tankers. The population of 16,40,379 in the division has been affected by the water shortage. The severity of the drought condition is increasing. The number of tankers is heading to a century.
The people in a rural area of Nashik district are facing a severe water crisis. District administration has to handle works related to the Lok Sabha elections and drought condition.
A total of 960 water tankers have been utilised to quench thirst of the population of 3,38,290 in seven tehsils of Nashik district, population of 43,311 in two tehsils in Dhule district, population of 2,26,218 in 9 tehsils of Jalgaon district and population of 10,32,560 in 15 tehsils of Ahmednagar district.
An additional number of private tankers than government tankers have been utilized. The water situation in Ahmednagar district is critical. There will be more demand in the next one-two months. While facing the drought condition, everyone should use water carefully, stated the water experts.
