Nashik: A notice has been sent to contractor company for its failure to complete the first model or smart road in a given term. A decision about charging of fine against the concerned contractor will be taken after the end of the Model Code of Conduct in a meeting of Smart City board of directors, informed Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishna Game.

After Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation undertook work of smart road as the first project in the city, a period of March 31, 2019 had been given to the contractor company to complete it.

However, it failed to complete the work in time and some months will require to complete the work. Due to this, Nashikites are facing inconvenience on a large scale. Students and those visiting the district collectorate and the court have to face difficulties. After the end of the term, no extension of a period has still been given to the contractor.

Overall on the backdrop of this, Municipal Commissioner Game has issued a notice to the smart road contractor company and asked to give clarification why a penal action is not taken against it.

The decision over the fine will be taken in the meeting of the board of directors of the smart company in the next month, the Municipal Commissioner informed. The administration of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has made biometric attendance mandatory to officials, teachers, sanitary workers, peons, and all other employees.

If attendance is not registered this way, the pay bill for April will not be cleared, he made it clear. Biometric attendance is mandatory for all and administration has developed a software for this and next payment bills will be cleared through this new method, the Municipal Commissioner also made it clear.

Property tax concession is possible next year
Former Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe stopped a special concession being given by the tax department for the first three months of the financial year to encourage taxpayers for payment of property tax.

As 5% concession for tax payment in April, 3% concession in May and 2% concession in June are offered, this helped in recovering the property tax worth crores of rupees. However, this had been stopped last year.

There is no provision regarding this in the new financial year. Therefore, it is impossible to offer such concession this year. It is possible to think about it in the next financial year, Municipal Commissioner Game clarified.
