NMC Standing committee Eight new members appointed

NASHIK :

As eight members of the standing committee of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) are retiring on February 28, a special General Body Meeting was organised on Monday. Mayor Satish Kulkarni announced the names of new eight members which were received from group leaders. He announced two names out of the total three names given by Shiv Sena and ended the GBM.

After resurfacing of internal bickering in Bharatiya Janata Party, a female corporator staged a sit-in agitation at Ramayan bungalow for some time and announced to give her resignation after a visit to former District Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan.

A special GBM was conducted under Mayor Satish Kulkarni on Mondy at 2 pm. Current members of standing committee Dinkar Patil, Pushpa Avhad, Bhagyashri Dhomse (all from BJP), Santosh Salve, Sangita Jadhav (all are from Shiv Sena), Sameer Kamble (Cong) and Sushma Pagare (NCP), including current chairman Uddhav Nimse (BJP) are retiring on February 28, 2020.

The Mayor clarified the purpose behind the organisation of the special GBM and announced the names of those corporators which he received from group leaders as new standing committee members.  He announced names of Dr Varsha Bhalerao, Hemant Shetty, Supriya Khode and Rakesh Donde from BJP, Rahul Dive from Congress, Samina Memon from NCP, Sudhakar Badgujar and Satyabhama Gadekar from Shiv Sena and ended the GBM with the national anthem.

Thereafter, the Mayor left the house to prevent any chaos. In this way, BJP has nine standing committee members, while Shiv Sena has four members, Congress, NCP and MNS have a single member each. Meanwhile, BJP and Shiv Sena corporators were expecting that they would get an opportunity as standing committee members, but some corporators were shocked as their expectations remained unfulfilled.

Priyanka Ghate showed her strong disappointment as she did not get a membership and reached Ramayan bungalow, but Mayor and other office-bearers were not present there. Ghate staged sit-in agitation there for some time. In addition, a corporator from Panchavati division alleged that there was setting in the appointment of members by BJP.
