Pooja Tipre / Nashik: Due to the increase in heat since the beginning of April, the prevailing water scarcity in the district has further worsened. Right now, the heat wave conditions across the district have started showing its impact on agriculture and human life.
The current water stock in the district dams is declining sharply and many of the reservoirs are drying up. Hence the question arises as to how the civic body will overcome the worsening water crisis facing the city.
On this backdrop, the municipal corporation has started taking several steps for water conservation and has sought citizens’ co-operation in the conservation of water. Appealing to the citizens on the conservation of water, the NMC has issued guidelines on the careful use of water and water resources.
The NMC guidelines say: Do not throw the remaining water away as the water does not get stale. Do not use the shower for bathing. If you do not have any proper tank for water storage, then construct it.
Take care that home water tanks do not overflow. Do not wash the vehicles using a tap, and do not waste water on the street. Do not install motor pumps at the tap connection.
Citizens likely to face bigger water problem in the next 2/3 months.
At many places pipelines are in damaged condition This year, citizens will have to face bigger water problem. Also, in many places pipelines were also damaged due to spoilage and hence water supply was being stopped.
Citing this, the civic body has instructed citizens on the careful use of water in the next few months which are very crucial as far as present water crisis is concerned. NMC has expressed hope that the citizens would follow it and cooperate with it to address their water problems.
If the citizens have any queries, complaints with regard to water problem, they can send their photographs and their addresses and other details on the mobile phones of the concerned departmental heads, sub-engineers, or they can directly approach water supply division for speedy redressal of their grievances.
Any queries regarding availability of water, its wastage, pipeline leakages etc will be resolved immediately by the municipal authorities, it said.
