NCP to take street over tax hike, other issues
Nashik: Nationalist Congrress Party (NCP) will organise a huge march from Rashtravadi Bhavan, Mumbai Naka on Monday (Sept. 10) to press for scrapping of property tax hike by Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) and other issues, informed former MP Sameer Bhujbal.
A warning had been given to scrap unjust property tax hike and to provide relief to citizens over various problems of Nashikites. A memorandum regarding this was given by NCP delegation to the Divisional Commissioner. Accordingly, the march will be organised to NMC headoffice.
There is a need to make develop keeping Nashikites central. When corporators decided to scrap the property tax hike in General Body Meeting, administration imposed tax hike on Nashikites. Following hike in rateable value of the tax against schools, colleges, open grounds, open spaces, hospitals, cinema halls and farmland it will be difficult.
This unrealistic hike is definitely unjust. Following warning of agitation by NCP, NMC administration on August 30 announced to reduce hike in ratebale value of tax against residential properties to 50%, while 25% against non-residential and commercial properties. Nashikities are misguided with this.
“We disagree with the decision taken on August 30 and our demand is to scrap the entire tax hike. An intense agitation will be staged for this. In addition, this agitation will be staged to press for cancellation of anti encroachment drive in Cidco, to condut cluster redevelopment scheme for redevelopment of old gaothan in Nashik city and to cancel notices issued to illegal shrines,” Bhujbal informed further.
