Adopt multi-crop pattern in sowing

On the backdrop of warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday that a low pressure area has formed over southeast and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area, Prof. Kirankumar Johare, Meteorologist has however said that cyclonic circulation will shift towards Oman and that there is no threat at all to Mumbai or Maharashtra of this cyclonic circulation.

“As of now, the North Maharashtra likely to witness pre-monsoon showers in this week in the form of lightning, thunderstorm and gusty winds. There will be no hailstorm this time,” said Prof. Kirankumar Johare.

He appealed farmers that they should not make haste for sowing activities and wait for right time means monsoon rain. “The farmers should wait for at least 65 to 85 mm of rainfall to get the land wet, and till the break up of clods,” Prof. Johare stated further warning that otherwise it will pose danger of re-sowing of seeds and major economic crisis in Covid-19 era. Prof. Johare also advised farmers to adopt multi cropping pattern, local Desi seeds and maximum use natural fertilisers to gain economic profits.

“Monsoon likely to arrive in Maharashtra in first werk of July,” the meteorologist predicted. Citing cloud formation conditions, he said that pre-monsoon rains likely to lash especially south region of Maharashtra, Konkan and Vidarbha in this week. Where as their will be possible drizzle to moderate rain in other regions of Maharashtra this week.

IMD Prediction

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has issued warning that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph) is very likely to occur at isolated places in North Konkan, South Konkan, North Madhya Maharashtra, East Vidarbha, South Madhya Maharashtra and West Vidarbha from May 31 to June 3,

The weather bureau further stated that it is very likely to move nearly northwards initially till morning of June 2 and then re curve north-northeastwards and reach near north Maharashtra and south Gujarat coasts around morning of June 3.
