MCC: 470 offences registered in the district
A total of 470 offences have been registered in the district for violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Highest 216 offences have been registered by the state excise department. 209 offences have been registered by rural police, while 45 offences have been registered by city police. The Model Code of Conduct for state assembly elections came into force on September 21.
After the existence of the Model Code of Conduct, suspicious transport of money, liquor and to possess a weapon. District administration striving hard for smooth conduct of election process. Check posts have been set up at various places in the district. Flying squads are monitoring illegal transport. The state excise department has kept a watch on those shops selling more liquor on a dry day.
Police are also keeping a watch in the thickly populated area through a drone. Vehicles are being checked at check posts in the city as well as in the rural area. As a result, a total of 470 offences have been registered in the city as well as in the district since September 21.
In addition, liquor worth Rs 49 lakh and Rs 15 lakh in cash have been seized. Highest offences are related to illegal transport of liquor and sale.
