Mayor, Dy Mayor polls on Nov 22
NASHIK: The ministry had issued ordinance through a gazette on the extension of the municipal mayor and deputy mayor tenure by three months from the date of enforcement of ordinance i.e. August 22. On the backdrop of this, the town planning department of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Friday announced to conduct polls on November 22 and declared an election program.
As six days have left for the election, political parties have to make hard efforts. The Mayors and Deputy Mayors in the 27 municipalities including Nashik had been given a three-month extension due to Assembly elections in the state. The extension period comes to an end on 22 November. The extended tenure of current Mayor of NMC Ranjana Bhansi is coming to an end.
Accordingly the town planning department held immediate discussions with Divisional Commissioner Rajaram Mane. Mane has called a special General Body Meeting on November 22 at 11 am to elect new Mayor and Deputy Mayor. He has appointed District Collector Suraj Mandhare as a dais offier for this election.
A letter regarding this has been issued to Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishna Game. As election programme has to announced seven days before, town planning department announced it. The nomination forms for both Mayor and deputy Mayor posts will be distributed from today (Nov 16).
The office of town secretary Raju Kute will accept the nomination forms on November 20, between 11 am to 2 pm. Dais officer Suraj Mandhare will conduct scrutiny of the forms in the beginning of special GBM on November 22. A period will be given for withdrawl of nominations then. Thereafter, the election process for the post of Mayor first. Followed by this election for deputy Mayor post will be held.
