Major road development proposal on the anvil in Deolali


DEOLALI CAMP : With a view to ease traffic at Deolali, a major road development proposal is on the anvil. The Deolali Cantonment Board, in this regard, has sent a proposal to Southern Command, Pune. Road widening and footpath development of major road links in Deolali including Houson Road, Main street, Mithai Street and Masjid Street has been proposed.

Every year in the month of August, the Board reviews the progress of its civic infrastructural and development plans and prepares a proposal a fresh to be sent to Southern Command, Pune, seeking approval.

On an annual basis, the Board also holds its meeting in the second week of August itself under the aegis of the Board president and the chief executive officer.A new proposal comprises 7.5-metre-wide roads and a 1-metre footpath with an estimated cost of Rs 8.5 crore.

The Board has also proposed to set up entrance arches at strategic points in areas of Lam Road, Vadner road (Heg line), Bhagur octroi post and Barnes school.  Meanwhile, it has bought an advanced fire tender and made a special arrangement for water for fire tenders by directly laying a water pipeline from a well behind the Rambharose Complex upto the fire station.
