Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Monday condoled the death of Wardha woman who passed away eight days later after being burnt alive by a stalker. On February 3, the accused Vikesh alias and Vicky Nagrale (27) set the 24-year-old Ankita Pisudde on fire in Hinganghat town of the Wardha district.
The victim, who was a lecturer, sustained 40 per cent grade III burns in the ghastly incident which provoked public outrage and its’ echo even reverberated in the Lok Sabha. She was battling for life at the Orange City Hospital and Research Institute in Nagpur.
The Hospital stated that despite prolonged cardiopulmonary resuscitation the patient could not be revived and succumbed to her injuries at 0655 hrs today. In the condolence message, Governor Koshyari said, “I am deeply saddened to know about the passing of the young woman lecturer from Hinganghat who lost her battle to death.”
“The entire society is agitated today. The unfortunate incident has compelled each one of us to introspect. Today women are progressing in all walks of life. They are assuming newer responsibilities and tackling challenges efficiently,” he remarked.
“In order to further hasten the progress of women, society must bear a positive attitude towards them. I convey my heartfelt condolences to the parents of the unfortunate girl in this moment of grief,” he bemoaned.
