Janmashtami celebrated with religious fervour in city
Nashik: Thousands of devotees thronged temples in city as Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of Lord Shree Krishna, was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety on Sunday.
Devotees in large numbers thronged Lord Krishna temples across the city including ISKCON temple located off Nashik Road, Panchavati, CIDCO, Sarpur and other parts of the city. Special arrangements were in place for the morning puja. Many devotees observed fast and sought the blessings of Lord Krishna.
The celebrations began with processions at various places early in the morning. Being a holiday devotees kept thronging the local ISKCON temple and the temples located in other parts of the city from early morning.
All temples were beautifully decorated. Flower bedecked cradles were set up at all temples. Special prayers were organised on the occasion. Young boys were dressed up as little Krishna and girls as Radha and Gopis. The cruelty of maternal uncle Kans and the birth of Krishna were depicted in a tableau exhibited at a majority of the temples.
Vasudeva and Devki in prison and the birth of Lord Krishna at all temples also remained a centre of attraction through pictures. Devotional songs performed by women and locals as well as professional artistes marked the day.
