Illegal hoardings: NMC recovers Rs 1 cr as fine


Nashik: The anti-encroachment department of NMC removed six huge hoardings in Satpur division as a part of its drive against illegal hoardings. Tax department recovered Rs. 1 crore as fine against illegal hoardings. Meanwhile, an illegal hoarding opposite Hotel Sandip was removed.

The tax department during its survey of illegal hoardings in the city, had found 158 illegal hoardings. The drive against the illegal hoardings was started in Satpur division since last eight days. It had come to light that 17 advertisement agencies had set up illegal hoardings at 20 locations. Following action by the anti-encroachment department against them, fine for 11 hoardings was paid, whereas six hoardings were removed by the department.

Rs 9.48 lakh was recovered in Satpur division as fine. Out of total hoardings in six divisions of the city, some agencies paid rent along with fine and amount above Rs. 1 crore has been recovered through this.

The anti-encroachment department seized iron girder and angles after removing 20×15 feet illegal hoarding opposite Hotel Sandip.
