Nashik: In order to control the spread of Dengue, Swine Flu and other vector-borne diseases in the city, Mayor Ranjana Bhansi issued orders to immediately start operations of spraying pesticides and fogging across the city.
The mayor also ordered the malaria department to conduct inspection drive of public and private water tanks at old Nashik, CIDCO, Satpur, Wadala, Nashik Road and other areas.
Since the past two months, there has been a considerable rise in the number of dengue suspected patients within the civic limits.
Apart from that, the number of other vector-borne disease is also on the rise. Consequently, complaints are pouring in from all parts of the city at the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC). Therefore, on the backdrop of increasing complaints, Mayor Ranjana Bhansi had convened a meeting with the officials of NMC’s medical and health department here today.
On the occasion, standing committee chairperson Himgauri Adke, Leader of the House Dinkar Patil, Health committee chairperson Satish Kulkarni, MNS’ group leader Saleem Shaikh, NMC’s health officer Sachin Hire, additional municipal commissioner Kishore Borde and others were present.
Notably, during the meeting Leader of the House Dinkar Patil, Health Committee Chairperson Satish Kulkarni and MNS’ group leader Saleem Shaikh took the health 0officials to task over the apathetic and negligent behaviour.
Apart from that the trio also suggested initiating preventive measures immediately. Acting on their suggestions, Mayor Ranjana Bhansi ordered the civic officials to take help of other staff members and immediately start spraying pesticides and carry out fogging within the civic limits.
During the meeting mayor, Ranjana Bhansi discussed the issue with health officer Dr Sachin Hire and Medical superintendent Dr Jairam Kothari and has sought a detailed report from both the departments about the spraying and fogging works within eight days.
