HAL workers on strike
Nashik : The work of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) which is the backbone of the Indian Air force is shut by workers on Monday. Around 3500 workers in Nashik’s Ojhar plant of HAL have gone on strike. The strike has been called by the workers all over the country and more than 20,000 workers in the country have taken part in the strike.
The HAL which prominently manufactures the Sukhoi aircraft has been closed by its workers. The workers in all the nine divisions of HAL across the country have gone on strike. The maintenance work of the choppers and aircraft will be totally closed during the strike. The strike has been called for an indefinite period by the All India HAL Employee Trade Union.
The union of workers has decided to shut the work over a demand to renew the wage contract. The union has said that the management has refused to give fair and reasonable wage contract and rejected other demands too. In a recent meeting with the management staff of the HAL, the AIHALTU demanded for increment in wage contract.
The meeting did not bear any fruit as the management rejected the demands of the workers. Accordingly, the union presidents of all the nine divisions called strike against the management and have demanded changes in wage contract. Around 20,000 employees of HAL across India have gone on strike, including 3500 workers from Nashik division. The strike has been called for indefinite period and is supposed to hamper the production.
