Gyms, malls, theaters to remain closed till March 31

Mandhare exempts essential services from the ban

With new cases being detected in Mumbai, Nagpur, Yavatmal and Aurangabad with the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the state rising to 31 on Sunday, the state health department has announced that gyms, shopping malls, theatres, auditoriums and swimming pools across the state will remain closed till month-end.

Accordingly, district collector Suraj Mandhare has issued a directive that besides all the gyms, shopping malls, theatres, auditoriums and swimming pools, all schools and colleges in areas of municipal corporations, municipalities and Nagar panchayats shall remain closed till 31 March.

“Grocery stores which sell commodities of daily need will remain open,” Mandhare who has been declared as Competent Authority to tackle the crisis said ensuring strict implementation of the Govt directives in the city and throughout the district.

Essential services like medicines, vegetables, milk sale and grocery have been exempted from the order,” a circular issued by district administration stated. The district administration has urged IT companies to allow its servicemen to work from home till March 31.

Meanwhile, the number of corona cases touched 107 in India yesterday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposing emergency fund and pledging $10 million during a video conference of SAARC leaders on combating Covid-19.
