For a hassle-free registration in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic which emphasises on social distancing, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has developed an online app for registration of establishments allied to food sector.
As per the new government policy, various establishments allied with foodstuff and its supplies in the city will have to make an online registration ensuring all norms are followed related to food quality and food security while supplying it on occasions like wedding.
The FDA issues certificate to the registered entity after ensuring and seeking clarification on certain food standards.
Meanwhile professionals have expressed satisfaction over the online facility.
The government has decided to open the markets with safety restrictions. The FDA will monitor all the food-related businesses to see if the safety information provided at the start of business has been complied with. Registration is mandatory for grocery stores, various food stalls, confectionery stores, sweet marts and parcel dealers.
Chandrasekhar Salunkhe, joint commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, has developed an online application system to facilitate the process, including freeing traders especially related to food industry, from the clutches of various permissions.
This has made it convenient for the traders to register their answers online. In the first stage of this online application process, after entering the e-mail ID, owner name, shop/ establishment name, shop address, shop license number and mobile number, the form will be processed. There are a number of questions that check the knowledge, awareness and measures taken by the trader regarding applying safety standards, food quality, social distancing during this Covid-19 situation. The traders after issuance of certificate can copy and display it in their shops.
This system will help reduce the stress on the office work and people seeking registration, stated FDA appealing to traders to avail the facility.
The response from traders from Nashik division is good. But we expect more traders should come forward for online registration. We expect enrolment of about eight to nine thousand business professionals allied with food industry.
