Ex DGP and sports psychologist Bhishmaraj Bam cremated


NASHIK: Former Director General of Police (Maharashtra) and renowned sports psychologist Bhishmaraj Bam, who died on Friday due to a massive heart attack, was cremated here yesterday.

Bam was cremated at Amardham crematorium in Panchavati at 11.00 am in the presence of people from all walks of life, including sports personalities, police officials, leadership of various political parties, economists, industrialists and social activists.

Son Abhijit Bam performed the last religious rites. Another son, Narendra, a scientist in America, however could not attend the funeral.

MLA Balasaheb Sanap, MLA Seema Hiray, MLC Jayant Jadhav, special DG of Police Vinaykumar Choube, police commissioner Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal, former dy mayor Manish Baste, economist Dr Vinayak Govilkar, industrialist Rameshwar Sarda, city Congress president Sharad Aher, Dhananjay Bele, Dr Hemlata Patil, Avinash Dharmadhikari of Chanakya Mandal, Jitubhai Thakkar, besides international shooter Anjali Bhagwat, Olympian Kavita Raut, Dr Mahendra Mahajan, Uday Deshpande, Dr Raju Bhujbal, actor Suyog Gore, sports coach Vijendra Singh, winner of Shiv Chhatrapati Puraskar Anand Khare and Avinash Khairnar, were also present.

Earlier, mortal remains of sports psychologist Bhishmaraj Bam were kept at public library near Mahatmanagar ground for public homage between 8.00 am and 10.00 am. On the occasion, Mayor Ranjana Bhansi and Tanashree Talwalkar of Swadhyay Parivar paid rich tributes to the departed soul.
A condolence meeting has been organised today (Sunday) at the public library in Mahatmanagar at 6.30 pm in the evening. While, Dashkriya Vidhi (rituals) will be held on Sunday (May 21) next.
Bam is survived by his wife Sudha, sons Narendra and Abhijit.
Bam had died after suffering a massive heart attack on Friday evening while providing his guidance in a lecture-series organised at Mahatmanagar. He was 79.
