Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated in the city


Old Nashik: Lakhs of Muslim brethren prayed for peace and brotherhood in the country during common mass prayer yesterday on Eid-ul-Fitr. Khatib-e-Nashik Hafiz Hisamoddin led the prayer. Leaders of all political parties and police officials were present at Shahjahani Eidgah Maidan to greet Muslim brethren. The festival was celebrated with religious fervour.

Following sighting of moon on Sunday, Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated yesterday.
Special prayer for Eid was held in the morning at various masjids in the city. The main programme was held at historic Shahjahani Eidgah Maidan. The devouts started to arrive since 7 am. The common mass prayer began around 10 am. Following the prayer, holy Khutba was read in Arabic language. Thereafter, prayer for peace, progress, brotherhood and good rainfall in the country was held. Common mass reading of holy Salatosalam took place thereafter. The programme concluded with prayer again. Those who were present there greeted one another with ‘Eid Mubarak’.

Mayor Ranjana Bhansi, MP Hemant Godse, Deputy Mayor Prathmesh Gite, city BJP chief MLA Balasaheb Sanap, Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, NMC standing committee chairperson Shivaji Gangurde, former Minister Dr. Shobha Bachhav, other political office bearers and police officials were present at the Maidan to greet the Muslim brethren.
Meanwhile, city police kept security in the city tight on the backdrop of Eid-ul-Fitr.
